Out of all the predictions here, the lattermost two seem the most believable, but perhaps Nintendo will take pity on players for 2020's entertainment drought and shower them in updates and new games. And if it does happen, it probably wont be anytime soon because theres no indication that Metroid Prime 4 is releasing anytime soon. A brand new leak has shared some surprising news about Metroid Prime 4.
Metroid Prime 4 has had a long journey, with it being over two and a half years since the Switch. Finally, Pokémon Diamond & Pearl remakes have long been rumored, and annual releases are standard for the franchise. Metroid Prime 4 fans may have seen the release date for the huge Nintendo Switch title leak. The fourth picture directly references the Japanese-exclusive Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War, possibly suggesting that the fourth Fire Emblem installment could finally arrive in the West much like the first game recently did. The Splatoon suggestion for this year, meanwhile, could point to anything from a sequel to yet another new DLC pack relating to Octolings. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 and Metroid Prime 4 in 2021 would each be huge surprises (to the point of being almost too good to possibly be true), but the vague images above could perhaps be implying that classic games or spin-offs will be coming this year while players continue to wait for mainline entries. Because of this, it's likely that this year will see even more leaked information release from sites such as ResetEra. These include cancelled plans for sequels to Pokémon X & Y and gameplay for an unreleased Donkey Kong title on the SNES. Since we’re just starting in 2023, there are likely plenty of press media events planned. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see if any actual announcement makes its way out from Nintendo. For one, this could be an announcement highlighting previous games coming to the Nintendo Switch as another means to catch players up on the series before the actual release of Metroid Prime 4. However, this cryptic message could very well be another project outside of Metroid Prime 4. While this was a major setback for the game, that transition happened in early 2019, so it could be at a state ready for marketing once again. Initially, the game build was being handled by Bandai Namco Studios but was since restarted and handed over to Retro Studios, the development team that handled the previous Metroid Prime titles. While many Metroid fans continue to wait for the long-anticipated Metroid Prime 4, others simply want a way to play the previous games using modern systems. Of course, that unveiling came before the game project was scrapped. It was several years ago at this point that a Metroid Prime 4 was officially unveiled. But we don’t have any concrete information as to what exactly could be unveiled. That has sparked plenty of conversation online, suggesting that we might soon see a Metroid Prime announcement coming our way.
